Music Balls

Have you heard of Miss Mustard Seed? Oh my goodness ... I love her style! I love and want color in our home ... but with all the kids and craziness, simplicity & neutrals are MUCH more calming. So, when I saw that she used mod podge & some vintage sheet music to make some music spheres for her front room ... I was all over that idea! I already had all the supplies on hand, just worked on it randomly as much as I could thru-out a day and done! A simple clearance container (from Hobby Lobby) & some other balls that I already had on hand finished up the little container ... I love it! :)

Book Wreath

I know, I know I'm like the LAST person on the planet to make one ... this project made me nervous ... seriously nervous. What if it turned into an epic fail??? And I spent $1 on the wreath form (from the dollar store) ... and hot glued an entire book for nothing??? I know ... fake drama in my mind ... but I seriously worry about things like that and as a result I NEVER start the stupid project. LOL. I actually finished this BEFORE the baby was born ... but never hung it up until just the other day ... love it! :)

Homemade Moby Wrap

I wanted a moby wrap ... loved the moby wrap and figured out a way to do one a bit cheaper too! After doing some research I found out from several different sites that you just needed 6.5 yards of jersey knit fabric (60" wide). Then all the directions said to cut straight down the center of the fabric and you're good to go! I have been DYING for Lizzie to get old enough for me to be able to do this (without my husband panicking about her suffocating ... all the websites said to wait until the baby is 3 months old to have enough head support to be okay) ... and so last week I finally got to go!

I picked out something that was a lighter color to help with the sun and heat of the summer, and I loved the black print on the fabric too! I got home, folded the fabric in half and five minutes later ... had my own moby wrap! Love quick & easy projects like that!

I picked up jersey knit fabric from Hobby Lobby for $4.99 a yard ... I meant to get 6.5 yards, but only got 6 instead. And since I cut it down the center, I got two for less than the one would have cost from the website! $30 for TWO wraps isn't bad!

Father's Day

So, I am so sick of all the commercialism around holidays. Why do you think that the only way to show your Mom that you love them is to spend lots of money??? Why is it the only way to show that we appreciate the Savior's birth is thru buying a butt load of toys for our kids? Why??? Father's Day is supposed to be about showing the Dad how much we love and appreciate them ... so we did a handmade holiday here ... and I loved it! Okay, maybe I didn't love all the work leading up to it though ...

We made a simple little banner saying, "Happy Father's Day" for Ryan and also mailed the same one to my Dad & Grandpa as well.

Then had the kids each draw a picture for Ryan and we framed them in dollar store frames. I was looking around for them Monday morning and turns out he already had taken them to work. lol.

And something I made last year that was a big hit was these sweet n' sassy bbq almonds ... yummy! So I made some & mailed them to my Dad & Grandpa & kept a pound for Ryan as well. :)

Breakfast in bed and then a nice dinner (baked sandwiches and smores cookies). We love Ryan and wanted him to know it ... but more than spending big bucks I wanted the kids to be a part of the celebration too!

More is better

So, I've been seeing these adorable mini pom pom flower hair things all over etsy. I love them! They are the perfect size for me ... or for my baby! But ... $6.50, each??? That's way too steep for me ... so I found some on-line here at afloral.com and found a gal to split shipping with me! I slapped them on some hair clips and then I ordered some baby elastic off of etsy from this seller (she was fast, friendly & a great deal!) ... and wah-lah! Beautiful, inexpensive and I was able to get a total of 21 flowers for less than $20! :) That's my kind of deal. :) One important side note though if you make these yourself, a lot of times when I trimmed the stems off, the bottom layers would fall off ... easily fixable with a little hot glue & sticking them back on! :)

A hair concoction

Things are starting to find a happy medium here! And with that, of course it means more crafting time! :)
So I saw this tutorial/idea and knew I had to make one for Savannah! She's almost six and has decided that she needs me to make her a dress or special hair things for every day of the week ... which has been difficult ... and many Sundays' she wakes up saying ... "but you promised me Mom!" ... and me saying, "um ... no I didn't." and much drama and crying ensues ... lol.
Free is a pretty good way to be and it matched her Easter dress perfectly! :)
